Our center accomplishes its projects under a unique philosophy based on user participation. This philosophy permits individuals and community organizations to actively participate and train in the planning, design, and construction of their environment. This participation reveals the involvement individuals and groups have with their built environment. These involvements are the connections people have with their community. Exposing these connections as important elements in the development and maintenance of a healthy community can add a sense of responsibility and local control to a community that has previously been negated by the imposition of outside interests, public and private.

Beginning with the belief that our clients know best the needs they wish to satisfy through their built environment, we listen to their needs and develop a product which can be fedback and refined in a participatory interaction between the client and design team. In this participatory relationship the design team makes their expertise available to the client and the client brings their knowledge of their needs to the designer. The refined design is then translated into a form building and construction professionals can use to produce the design. The participatory process is an important element in our brand of design practice. So is the product generated through this process. Conventional design is usually represented in a static two dimensional drawing. However, by using computer simulation and computer aided design tools, we are able to create interactive designs that are easily modified to reflect solutions produced through the participatory process of review and recommendation.
